Participating in the semi-final round on March 21st, the CTS College debate team went up against worthy opponent and last year’s winner COSTAATT. The battle was shrill, the debates were passionate, patriotism surrounded the atmosphere, articulation and wit filled the podiums and in the end when the smoke cleared the CTS College debate team emerged victorious! The topic was “Be it resolved that parents should be held responsible for their school-going children's discipline problems” and while the CTS College team had the more difficult task of arguing in the negative, the team once more emerged as winners. The debate team comprising of Corrine Bailey, Suzette Matterson and Devi Kalicharran (reserve) performed superbly. The girls now march on to the finals where we face the winner of the preliminary rounds, Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business.

Once more the accomplishment, training and mentoring would not have been possible without our prolific coach whose commitment to the team’s preparation and performance deserves mentionable praise and gratitude. The endless nights of preparation did not go unrewarded! Please join us in congratulating our coach and the debate team. As we move towards the finals to be held on Thursday April 7th at Cipriani Labour College, we ask you to come out in your numbers and support our team! The topic for the grand finals is “Be it resolved that all persons, institutions and agencies that use ‘public money’ must come under the scrutiny of the Integrity in Public Life Act”, we are arguing in the affirmative.

CTS College will be providing free Transportation (from CTS College to Cipriani Labour College and back) and light refreshments to all our students attending the finals.
