Upon completion of this programme, students would understand:

  • Different hardware that makes up a mobile device (Apple, Samsung, LG, etc.)
  • How to properly disassemble different types of mobile devices (Apple. iPhone/iPads, Samsung Phones and Tablets)
  • How to troubleshoot different types of mobile devices to assess what may be the defect in order to proceed to repair them (Apple, Samsung and other manufacturers).
  • How to use different types of equipment to properly perform a repair on different types of mobile devices
  • How to carry out basic board repairs (rework station, LCD screen separator also known as heat plate, soldering iron, etc.)
  • Software repairs (including unlocking of securities and network based restrictions) and understanding the differences in Operating Systems in different types of mobile devices (iOS, Android)
  • Jailbreaking and rooting
  • The importance of MMI/USSD codes and how it may be applied in a mobile repair or emergency situation

  • Changing the home button and ear speaker
  • Physical and liquid damage detection on PCB boards
  • Data transfer and recovery

Online Classes

This course will be delivered via live online classes. Students will be provided with a link to join the class as well as other relevant instructions at least one day before the start of each class. These classes are also recorded - therefore students have the option to review the course content as often as they like.

There will be no formal exams or assessments for this course.


In order to receive the CTS College certificate of completion or participation for this course, students must attend a minimum of 75% of classes and pay any outstanding fees. Where applicable, students who do not meet the necessary assessment requirements, but attended the required amount of classes would receive a CTS College certificate of participation.
