Overview

The Fundamentals of Law course at CTS is tailored for persons looking to understand the general principles of law which will serve to inform them of their rights and obligations. The study of law will also assist persons in developing knowledge and understanding of critical legal concepts, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills that can be valuable for both personal and professional development.

Participants will learn about the nature and content of contractual agreements, the requirements for their enforcement under the law, and the conditions under which they may be terminated. The course will also cover the law of civil wrongs and the methods by which the law assigns liability to individuals whose wrongful conduct causes loss or harm to others. Additionally, participants will be introduced to the general principles of property law and legal practice. By acquiring these fundamental skills, they will gain the essential concepts needed to apply the law to real-world situations.

This course will be delivered via live online classes. Students will be provided with a link to join the class as well as other relevant instructions at least one day before the start of each class. These classes are also recorded - therefore students have the option to review the course content as often as they like.

Students would be required to complete the following assessment(s) for this course:

  • Written assessments (per module)

Certification

In order to receive the CTS College certificate of completion or participation for this course, students must attend a minimum of 75% of classes and pay any outstanding fees. Where applicable, students who do not meet the necessary assessment requirements, but attended the required number of classes would receive a CTS College certificate of participation.
