  • Torque and horsepower
  • Friction: static, sliding and rolling, coefficient of rolling resistance
  • Mechanical advantage: Levers, pulleys and flywheels
  • Newton's Laws of Motion
  • Speed, velocity, and acceleration
  • Statute mile, nautical mile, latitude, longitude and knots
  • Fluids, gas laws and bernoulli’s principle
  • Weight and balance: Arms, moments and center of gravity

6: Basic Aircraft Structure

  • Fuselage: Monocoque and semi-monocoque
  • Type of wings and chord line
  • Empennage
  • Primary and secondary flight controls: slats, flaps, ailerons, rudders and tabs
  • Counterbalancing, pressurised aircraft and fly-by-wire

7: Aircraft Engine and Airframe Manufacturers

Delivery Mode

Online and Face-to-Face Classes

This course will be delivered via a combination of live online and face-to-face classes.

Online Classes: Students will be provided with a link to join the class as well as other relevant instructions at least one day before the start of each class. These classes are also recorded - therefore students have the option to review the course content as often as they like.

Face-to-Face Classes: Students would be expected to attend the classes at the designated location.

Assessment

Students would be assessed based on the following:

  • Written multiple choice exam
  • Class attendance
  • Participation

Note: Participants must achieve an overall mark of 70% or higher in order to pass this course.

Certification

In order to receive the CTS College certificate of completion or participation for this course, students must attend a minimum of 75% of classes and pay any outstanding fees. Where applicable, students who do not meet the necessary assessment requirements, but attended the required amount of classes would receive a CTS College certificate of participation.

Mr Lutchmedial, is an experienced aviation consultant, with over 53 years in the aviation industry. He has a wealth of expertise in aviation safety, regulatory compliance, passenger facilitation, air navigation, aviation security and accident investigation.

He was instrumental in transforming the Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA) into a globally recognised aviation organisation during his 16-year tenure as Director General. His accomplishments include establishing modern aviation infrastructure, such as the TTCAA aviation complex and the Trinidad and Tobago Safety Oversight System, which enabled the country to achieve FAA IASA Category 1 status.

Ramesh has also played a significant role in the development of civil aviation infrastructure in Trinidad and Tobago, including the creation of Caribbean Air Navigation and Advisory Services Limited (CANAS) to manage air navigation charges. He has represented Trinidad and Tobago at international aviation conferences and negotiations, contributing to the country's air service agreements and aviation development.

Ramesh continues to contribute to the aviation industry and shares his knowledge through lectures and training programmes. His vast experience and dedication make him an invaluable asset to the course.
